The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has thrown its weight behind the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, urging voters to support him in the August 15 governorship election. In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party said its appeal was driven by the need for what it described as quality leadership, effective representation and equitable distribution of resources in Osun State. The Oyo APC also called on voters to use the election as an opportunity to change the state’s leadership.
The party criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing it of poor governance, alleged corruption, nepotism and uneven distribution of appointments and infrastructure. Oyo APC further claimed that Osun residents had become divided under the current administration and accused the governor of having strained relationships with other South-West governors because of political differences. The allegations are part of the APC’s wider campaign for Oyebamiji, who is challenging Adeleke as the incumbent seeks a second term in office.
Oyo APC described Oyebamiji as a competent and intelligent candidate capable of uniting the state and delivering on his campaign promises. The party promised that an APC government would prioritise peace, accountability and accelerated development while tackling what it described as rising violence and insecurity. Oyebamiji has also pledged to make agriculture a major pillar of his administration, including promoting mechanised farming, improving rural roads and strengthening access to markets for farmers.
