Former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Ahmed Ajibola, popularly known as General H, has explained that his decision to resign from the pro-Tinubu support group was driven by personal principles and concerns over the direction of the organisation’s leadership in Oyo State. In a statement posted on Instagram, Ajibola dismissed reports claiming he was dismissed or suspended, insisting that he voluntarily resigned after declining two fresh appointments offered by both the state and national leadership of the movement. He maintained that his exit should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of support for President Bola Tinubu or the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ajibola said he accepted an appointment as Coordinator, Directorate Affairs at the state level on August 1 and was later offered another position as Coordinator, Stakeholder Engagement for the South-West Structure on August 5. However, he declined both roles before submitting his resignation, explaining that effective leadership should be built on fairness, loyalty, transparency, competence and mutual respect. According to him, recent developments within the Oyo chapter convinced him that he could no longer continue in the movement in good conscience, particularly under the newly appointed state leadership.
Despite stepping away from the organisation, Ajibola reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, stressing that his political support for the administration remains unwavering. He described social media reports alleging that he made derogatory remarks against the President, Seyi Tinubu and other leaders of the movement as false and malicious. The resignation comes amid internal disagreements within the Oyo chapter of the City Boy Movement, with Ajibola expressing hope that the organisation would remain committed to the values and ideals on which it was founded.
