The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the names, personal particulars and academic credentials of all presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election. The documents, displayed through Form EC9 at INEC offices nationwide, are part of the legal nomination process and allow members of the public to scrutinise the information submitted by candidates and raise objections through the appropriate legal channels where necessary.
The list features candidates from 18 political parties, including President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other contenders seeking the nation’s highest office. Alongside their running mates, the published records include educational qualifications, employment history and other personal information required under Nigeria’s electoral laws.
INEC said the publication is aimed at promoting transparency in the electoral process and giving Nigerians the opportunity to examine the documents before the commission releases the final list of candidates later in the election timetable. The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, in line with the commission’s revised electoral calendar.
