The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the process of restoring the Abraka, Ughelli South II and Isoko North II State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta State. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Delta State, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, said the exercise is aimed at implementing court judgments and ensuring that the affected communities regain proper representation in the state legislature.

Umoren described the restoration as more than an administrative exercise, saying it is about returning the voices of communities that have been without adequate representation. He appealed to traditional rulers, political parties, local government officials, civil society groups, security agencies and residents to support the process by encouraging peaceful participation and providing accurate information throughout the exercise.

Representing the Supervising National Commissioner for Delta State, Deputy Director of Delineation Mrs Emem Umoren said the restoration would guarantee the constitutional right of residents in the affected constituencies to elect representatives into the Delta State House of Assembly. INEC assured stakeholders that the exercise would be conducted with transparency, fairness and professionalism to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process and deepen democracy in the state.
