The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing the contest as “a coronation, not an election.” Speaking during a television interview, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain argued that the opposition lacked the political strength and voter base needed to unseat the President.
Keyamo questioned the electoral prospects of opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, saying he could not see where they would obtain enough votes to defeat the ruling party. He cited recent APC victories in elections as evidence of the party’s growing popularity and maintained that demographic realities strongly favour Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The minister stressed that his prediction was based on political calculations rather than overconfidence, insisting that the APC remains well-positioned ahead of the 2027 polls. His remarks come as political parties continue to strategise and build alliances in preparation for what is expected to be a keenly contested presidential election.
