The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called for further measures to address the pressure faced by Nigerian households and businesses as the country prepares to mark its 66th Independence Anniversary.
The chamber said reducing the cost of living and the cost of doing business remains important to improving economic activity and supporting the private sector.
Businesses across Nigeria have continued to deal with several operating challenges, including high energy costs, transportation expenses, financing costs and other factors that affect production and the prices of goods and services.
For households, higher living costs have also continued to influence spending patterns and purchasing power.
The LCCI’s position comes amid broader discussions about how government policies can support businesses while also protecting households from excessive economic pressure.
The private sector has repeatedly called for policies that make it easier for businesses to operate, invest, employ workers and expand production.
The chamber is also pushing for an environment where businesses can compete more effectively and contribute to economic growth.
As Nigeria approaches another Independence anniversary, discussions about living standards, business costs, investment and economic opportunities are expected to remain central to conversations about the country’s economic direction.
