Federal Government Targets Creative Industry Growth Through CANEX 2026

The Federal Government is looking to use the 2026 Creative Africa Nexus Weekend, CANEX, to strengthen Nigeria’s creative economy and create more opportunities for businesses and professionals in the sector.

The event is expected to bring together thousands of participants, including creative professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and industry stakeholders from Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

CANEX covers several areas of the creative economy, including music, film, fashion, design, digital content and other creative businesses.

The Federal Government has increasingly identified the creative sector as an area capable of supporting employment, entrepreneurship and international trade.

For Nigerian creatives, one of the major opportunities presented by events such as CANEX is access to investors, international markets and potential business partnerships.

The government has also been seeking ways to strengthen the commercial side of the creative industry so that Nigerian creative products can generate more revenue locally and internationally.

The event is expected to provide a platform for discussions around financing, technology, intellectual property, market access and the development of creative businesses.

With Nigeria already having a large entertainment and creative ecosystem, government officials and industry stakeholders are expected to use CANEX to explore ways of turning the country’s creative talent into sustainable businesses and export opportunities.
