Delta State Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Ossai Success, has offered N500,000 and an ambassadorial position to a young United Bank for Africa employee who recently faced online backlash after addressing the bank’s chairman, Tony Elumelu, by his first name. Ossai said the offer was intended to support the woman after the controversy surrounding the incident.

The package includes a complimentary trip to Asaba for the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit on August 27, covering flights, five-star accommodation and a guided tour of developmental projects in the state. Ossai also offered her VIP access to the summit and a brand ambassador role for the annual event.

Ossai said the backlash had become excessive, stressing that although the woman may have made a mistake, she should not be subjected to prolonged online attacks. His intervention followed Elumelu’s public correction of the staff member, who had addressed him as “Tony” during an interaction.
