The Federal Government has reassured parents that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.
The Ministry of Information and National Orientation disclosed the development on Friday, September 11, following concerns from parents and members of the public about the reopening arrangements for the schools.
The government said there was no plan to postpone the resumption of students in the federal government-owned secondary schools.
The Federal Unity Colleges are spread across different parts of the country and provide secondary education to students from diverse backgrounds. The schools are managed by the Federal Ministry of Education as part of the government’s efforts to provide quality education and promote national integration.
The clarification is expected to provide certainty for parents, students and school administrators who have been making preparations for the new academic session.
The Federal Government has also continued to introduce reforms within the education sector, including efforts to improve school infrastructure, strengthen accreditation processes and modernise administrative systems.
The Ministry recently announced moves to address the use of “borrowed staff and equipment” during tertiary institution accreditation, while other reforms are being implemented across the education sector.
Parents have consequently been urged to make the necessary arrangements ahead of Monday’s reopening.
