Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reassured supporters that he intends to remain at the club despite entering the final year of his contract. The Spaniard, who guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season, said fans should not be concerned about his future as negotiations over a new deal have yet to be completed.
Arteta said he is “extremely happy” at Arsenal and wants to continue working with the club, adding that a new agreement would be resolved when the time is right. He explained that the club’s focus during the summer has largely been on strengthening the squad rather than contract discussions.
The 44-year-old is preparing Arsenal for their title defence, with the Gunners set to face FA Cup winners Manchester City in the Community Shield. Arteta also said the squad is motivated and eager to begin the new campaign strongly as Arsenal look to build on their historic league triumph.
