A 72-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion supporter has died after falling ill while leaving the Amex Stadium following the club’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday. The supporter reportedly became unwell while making his way to a supporters’ club bus in the coach park after Brighton’s 4-0 victory.
Emergency responders, including South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, St John Ambulance, Sussex Police, the club’s medical team and stewards, attended the incident. The man received prolonged CPR at the scene, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
Brighton chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber expressed the club’s sadness over the death, describing the circumstances as heartbreaking and extending condolences to the supporter’s family and friends. The club also praised the emergency personnel and staff who responded to the medical emergency.
