Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, on his 51st birthday, commending his contributions to the country’s fiscal and tax reform programme. Abbas described Oyedele as one of the key architects of Nigeria’s ongoing tax transformation efforts, noting that his expertise has played a significant role in reshaping the nation’s revenue framework.
In his tribute, the Speaker highlighted Oyedele’s leadership in designing and implementing reforms aimed at simplifying the tax system, reducing the burden on low-income earners, encouraging business growth, and improving government revenue generation. He noted that the reforms have been widely regarded as a major step toward creating a more efficient and inclusive tax environment. Under the new framework, small businesses benefit from significant tax reliefs, while many lower-income workers pay reduced or no personal income tax.
