The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the West African Examinations Council have agreed that candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions will pay ₦4,000 only once to verify their WASSCE/O’Level results. Under the new arrangement, candidates whose admissions are coordinated by JAMB will complete the verification through the board’s designated platform, after which the verified result will be made available to their chosen institutions.
JAMB and WAEC stressed that the ₦4,000 fee must be paid through the specified JAMB Verification Service platform and not to individual institutions. Tertiary institutions have been directed to use the verified results supplied by JAMB for admission screening and processing, meaning candidates who have already completed the verification should not be charged another verification fee.
The new system also allows candidates to initiate the verification process from home or any internet-enabled location, reducing the need for repeated visits to institutions or JAMB-approved CBT centres. The two bodies said the collaboration is aimed at reducing admission-related costs and stress while strengthening the integrity and security of candidates’ academic records.
