\n\nOperatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 510 blocks of cannabis sativa in Kano State and arrested a 34-year-old suspect in a major anti-narcotics operation ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. The arrest followed an intelligence-led raid carried out on March 10, 2026, targeting illicit drug activities in the state. 
According to NDLEA officials, the suspect, identified as Sani Musa from Bebeji Local Government Area, was found in possession of the compressed cannabis blocks, which were reportedly intended for distribution during the festive period when demand for such substances typically rises. He allegedly confessed that the consignment was handed over to him by another dealer, identified only as “Alaramma,” who remains at large. Authorities say the suspect admitted to knowingly participating in the drug trade and was tasked with selling the drugs to customers. 
The Kano State Commander of the NDLEA, D.Y. Lawal, confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the network and dismantle the supply chain. He also assured residents of intensified surveillance and enforcement operations, particularly during festive seasons when traffickers often attempt to flood markets with illicit substances. 
The latest seizure underscores a broader crackdown by the NDLEA across Nigeria in recent weeks, especially in northern states where authorities have recorded multiple drug interceptions ahead of Sallah. Security analysts note that such operations are crucial in curbing substance abuse and related crimes, while also protecting vulnerable communities during high-traffic festive periods.
