\n\nNigerian troops have successfully repelled a midnight attack by suspected ISWAP fighters in Mallam Fatori, Borno State, killing over 60 terrorists, including several key commanders. According to the Nigerian Army, the insurgents launched the assault around 12:50 a.m., advancing on foot and deploying armed drones in an attempt to overrun a military base. 
The troops, under Operation Hadin Kai, responded with coordinated firepower and defensive tactics, preventing the attackers from breaching the base’s main defensive area. The military described the operation as a major success, noting that the insurgents suffered heavy casualties during the intense overnight battle. 
The incident comes amid a renewed surge in insurgent attacks across Nigeria’s North-East, including recent bombings and assaults on military positions in Borno State. Security experts say the increasing use of drones and coordinated night attacks signals evolving tactics by extremist groups, even as the military continues intensified operations to contain the threat.
