\n\nThe Court of Appeal has ordered a fresh hearing in the case filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, challenging the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s probe into his administration. The appellate court overturned an earlier judgement of the Federal High Court, ruling that the previous proceedings were flawed.
According to the court, El-Rufai was denied fair hearing because he was not properly served with a hearing notice before the lower court proceeded with the case. This failure, the judges held, rendered the entire process invalid, as proper service of court documents is essential for a fair trial.
As a result, the Appeal Court set aside the earlier judgement and directed that the case be reassigned to another judge for a complete rehearing. The ruling is expected to significantly influence the ongoing legal battles surrounding the former governor, especially as he continues to contest actions taken against him during and after his time in office.
