15 Killed in Katsina as Reprisal Attack Shatters Fragile Peace
\n\nAt least 15 people have been killed following a reprisal attack by suspected bandits in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, marking a major breakdown of a peace arrangement that had held for over a year. The attack occurred in Falale and Kadobe villages, where armed men stormed the communities and opened fire on residents.

Authorities said the violence was triggered after local vigilantes intercepted and killed three suspected “repentant” bandits during a patrol, leading to a gunfight. In retaliation, a larger group of bandits launched a coordinated assault on the villages, resulting in multiple deaths and widespread panic among residents.

Security forces, including police and other agencies, were deployed to the area and have since restored calm. Officials say investigations are ongoing, while the state government is working with community leaders to prevent further escalation. The incident highlights the fragility of local peace deals in northern Nigeria, where cycles of retaliation continue to fuel violence.
