\n\nSeveral passengers were injured after a train operating on the Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor derailed on Monday, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC). The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m. near Asham Station, when a rear locomotive made contact with a passenger coach due to a coupling issue, causing a sudden jolt that injured some passengers on board. 
The NRC confirmed that emergency response teams were immediately activated and the injured passengers were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Officials said no fatalities were recorded, although the exact number of injured passengers has not yet been disclosed. The train eventually arrived at Idu Station in Abuja about 38 minutes behind schedule after damaged components were removed from the track. 
Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud bang before the train abruptly stopped, throwing some passengers from their seats and causing panic inside the coaches. Authorities say a full investigation has been launched by railway engineers and the Safety Investigation Bureau to determine the exact cause of the incident and prevent future occurrences on the busy rail route.
