Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Turaki, Others Attend PDP BoT Emergency Meeting
\n\nTop leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathered in Abuja for an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) following a major court ruling affecting the party’s leadership structure. The meeting was led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, the BoT chairman, and held at the lodge of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed. Key figures present included Seyi Makinde, Tanimu Turaki, and acting PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, alongside other senior party stakeholders.

The emergency gathering comes after the Court of Appeal in Abuja affirmed an earlier judgement restraining the party from conducting its controversial Ibadan national convention held in November 2025. The court ruled that the convention failed to comply with constitutional and electoral requirements, including proper notification to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the conduct of congresses in the required number of states.

In his remarks at the meeting, Wabara described the court ruling as an opportunity for the PDP to reorganise and rebuild internal unity. Party leaders are now discussing plans for a fresh national convention later this month, as the opposition party seeks to resolve its leadership crisis and reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
