\n\nPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers States, urging them to view their mandates as a “sacred trust” and to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication. The polls covering chairmanship and councillorship contests in the six FCT area councils and by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II in Rivers, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo state constituencies were praised by Tinubu for being conducted peacefully and successfully, a development he said strengthens Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutions.
In his statement, the President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and voters for their discipline and courage during the polls, and singled out FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his “remarkable achievements” in the territory that helped yield political dividends for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Tinubu extended his congratulations to the APC national leadership and party members in Kano and Rivers, while encouraging the electoral body to continue improving its processes to deliver more credible elections in future cycles.
