The Presidency has clarified that former ministers Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa were not sacked, but voluntarily resigned from their positions in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet. 
According to an official statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Edun submitted his resignation before the cabinet reshuffle was announced, citing health concerns as a key reason. The former finance minister reportedly expressed gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve and described his time in office as a privilege. 
Similarly, Dangiwa also stepped down voluntarily, thanking the president for the chance to be part of the Federal Executive Council. The Presidency emphasised that both exits were not forced removals, countering earlier reports that suggested they were sacked. 
Following their departure, President Tinubu proceeded with the cabinet reshuffle, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance, while a replacement was also nominated for the housing ministry. 
The clarification appears aimed at correcting public perception, as initial reports framed the development as a dismissal, whereas the Presidency maintains it was a voluntary transition aligned with ongoing government restructuring.
