Nigeria’s Falconets have secured a place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after recording a stunning 10-1 victory over New Caledonia in their final Group F match in Poland on Sunday. The emphatic win marked Nigeria’s biggest victory in the history of the tournament and provided a strong response after the team began its campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Spain and a goalless draw against China.The Falconets dominated the encounter from the opening minutes, with Ramotalahi Kareem and Rebecca Adegbemile among the early scorers. Kareem found the net twice, while Winner Onajite David produced a sensational second-half performance by scoring a hat-trick. Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu also contributed to Nigeria’s commanding victory, as the team’s attacking display overwhelmed the New Caledonian defence. The result demonstrated the team’s determination to remain in contention for the world title.The victory took Nigeria to four points from three matches and secured second place in Group F behind Spain, who finished with nine points. China also ended the group stage with four points but missed out on qualification because of Nigeria’s superior goal difference.
