Several shops at the Pumpum Nuri Water Site in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State have been destroyed by fire, leaving traders with losses estimated at millions of naira. The incident occurred around 11pm on Monday, while residents were indoors, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The NSCDC said the blaze razed several shops before it was eventually brought under control. However, the cause of the fire remains unknown, with authorities yet to determine what triggered the outbreak. An assessment of the extent of the damage is ongoing.
No deaths or injuries were reported in the incident, but the destruction has caused significant financial losses for affected traders and business owners.
