President Bola Tinubu has expressed relief following the rescue of 21 Nigerians, including 15 National Youth Service Corps members, who were abducted last week in Kogi State. The victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were rescued from kidnappers’ hideouts in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area during a coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving the military, police, Department of State Services and local vigilantes.

Tinubu commended the security personnel involved in the operation and said the rescued victims were receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families. He particularly reassured the families of NYSC members that his administration remained committed to protecting corps members and other Nigerians travelling across the country.

The President, however, said the operation would not end with the victims’ rescue, directing security agencies to maintain pressure on the fleeing kidnappers and pursue anyone who aided the abduction. He warned that those responsible would face the full weight of the law, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to ensuring Nigerians can travel without fear.
