The Federal Government has approved N10bn for the 2026 National Research Fund Grant Cycle of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). The application process begins with the submission of concept notes by Principal Investigators, with only researchers whose proposals are assessed and considered fundable invited to submit full proposals.
The grant is open to lecturers in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria, while TETFund encourages multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research involving experts from different fields. Applicants must be institution-based Principal Investigators, with their institutions serving as coordinating institutions and guarantors for the proper use of the research funds.
Applications are to be completed entirely online, with researchers expected to submit their concept notes through the designated TETFund application process. The initiative is aimed at supporting research that can contribute to national development and strengthen research capacity across Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions.
