President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Enitan formally assumed office on Thursday, August 27, at the State House in Abuja, succeeding Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, was previously the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He had served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with previous postings including the Ministries of Police Affairs and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the Office of the Vice President.
Tinubu appointed Enitan on August 19 and tasked him with consolidating ongoing civil service reforms, strengthening professionalism and efficiency, and building a more responsive and accountable public service. The President also commended Walson-Jack for her contributions and reforms during her tenure.
