The Kwara State Police Command has rescued the Onigbesi of Igbesi, Oba Moses Omotayo, and two other victims after they were abducted by gunmen in Igbesi, Isin Local Government Area. The monarch was among several people reportedly kidnapped during a recent wave of attacks in the area.
According to the police, the rescue operation followed sustained efforts by security operatives to track the kidnappers. During the operation, officers engaged the suspected abductors in a gun battle, killing one of the kidnappers while others reportedly fled into the surrounding area.
The successful operation comes amid growing security concerns in southern Kwara, where several communities and traditional rulers have recently faced attacks and abductions. The police said efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and strengthen security across the affected communities.
