Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the 2026 Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year after an outstanding 2025/26 Premier League campaign. The Portuguese midfielder received the award at the 53rd PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester after being voted for by fellow professional footballers.
Fernandes played a key role in Manchester United’s recovery under manager Michael Carrick, helping the club secure a third-place finish and Champions League qualification. He recorded a Premier League-best 21 assists and nine goals during the campaign, while also earning the Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.
The award makes Fernandes the first Manchester United player to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year since Wayne Rooney in 2010. He is also only the second Portuguese player to receive the honour, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s victory in 2007.
