Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri broke down in tears on Monday as his longtime colleague and friend, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was laid to rest in Ilaro, Ogun State. Quadri was among the prominent Nollywood figures who gathered to pay their final respects to the late Yoruba film icon.
The emotional burial was attended by several actors, including Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Ireti Osayemi, Mr Latin, Faithia Balogun and Toyosi Adesanya. Quadri had also been among colleagues who supported Ogogo and rallied around him during his illness before his death at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23.
Ogogo was buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown, with family members, friends, colleagues and residents gathering for the final ceremony. His death after a battle with stage-four cancer has triggered widespread mourning across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
