The All Progressives Congress chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has died after reportedly collapsing during a party reconciliation meeting in Iyara on Friday. The meeting was convened to reconcile factions, resolve internal disagreements and strengthen unity among APC stakeholders in the local government.
Solomon reportedly slumped while the meeting was ongoing at Iyara Town Hall. He was rushed to a medical facility in neighbouring Kabba but was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.
Kogi APC Chairman Aliyu Ezzu expressed shock over the sudden death and described Solomon as a committed party leader who contributed to the growth and unity of the APC in Ijumu. Other party officials and political leaders have also mourned his death, which comes amid ongoing efforts to settle internal differences within the party ahead of future political activities.
