Nigerian Army troops under Operation UDO KA have dismantled suspected IPOB/ESN strongholds in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, recovering weapons, motorcycles and materials allegedly used to manufacture improvised explosive devices. The operation was conducted on Saturday in collaboration with the Navy’s Maritime Component, the Department of State Services and the Anambra Vigilante Group.
The Army said troops launched a dawn offensive on suspected camps in Obene and Abator villages in the Ochuche and Umunankwo communities. The suspected fighters reportedly opened fire before fleeing into surrounding terrain. One suspected member was neutralised, while blood stains along the escape route suggested others may have been wounded.
A search of the abandoned camps yielded two pump-action guns, two motorcycles and IED-making materials, according to the Army. The military described the seizure as a significant operational gain and said troops had intensified operations in surrounding areas to prevent the suspected members from regrouping and to deny them safe havens.
