Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former President Shehu Shagari’s family have expressed grief over a boat accident in Sokoto State that claimed several lives. The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of water transportation in communities where residents rely on boats because of poor road access.
Tambuwal condoled with the affected families and called for urgent measures to prevent similar tragedies. The former governor urged authorities to improve safety standards for boats and provide adequate rescue and emergency equipment for communities dependent on waterways.
The Shagari family also mourned the victims and demanded action from relevant authorities. They called for stronger enforcement of passenger limits, provision of life jackets and improved waterways infrastructure to reduce the risk of further accidents. The tragedy has intensified calls for government intervention to make water transportation safer for residents.
