\n\nThe Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved road construction, rehabilitation projects and public-private partnership concessions worth more than ₦610 billion as part of efforts to improve Nigeria’s transport infrastructure.
The approvals were announced on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following the Council’s meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The projects are expected to address critical infrastructure gaps and improve connectivity across different parts of the country.
The Federal Government said the investment will support the development and rehabilitation of strategic roads while improving the movement of people, goods and services. Better road infrastructure is also expected to facilitate economic activities and strengthen connections between major commercial centers.
The approvals include major road projects across several states, alongside private-sector concessions designed to bring additional investment into the country’s transport infrastructure.
One of the major projects approved by FEC is the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun State border road, while other projects cover important corridors in Ogun and Rivers states. The Council also approved concessions involving major transport infrastructure.
The latest approvals form part of the Tinubu administration’s broader infrastructure programme, which aims to improve road networks, reduce transportation bottlenecks and create an environment that supports trade, investment and economic growth.
The Federal Government is expected to begin implementation of the approved projects in line with the terms and timelines attached to the individual contracts.
