The Federal Executive Council has approved a combined N1.02tn for major infrastructure projects, including road construction and healthcare facilities across the country. The approvals include N74.51bn for the 15-kilometre Port Harcourt–Onne Port Junction section of the East-West Road in Rivers State, with RCC Nigeria Limited awarded the contract for a nine-month completion period.

The council also approved several other road projects, including the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road at N159.83bn and projects in Ogun and Ekiti states. In addition, three public-private partnership concessions covering the Suleja-Minna road, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a trailer park in Abia State were approved.

In the health sector, FEC approved N302.30bn for a new National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre in Abuja, alongside funding for a neuroscience institute, modular clinics, theatres and other facilities at the National Hospital Abuja. Health Minister Muhammad Pate said the investments were aimed at modernising healthcare infrastructure and reducing the need for Nigerians to travel long distances for specialised treatment.
