The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dismantled an alleged international cocaine trafficking cartel and arrested Nigerian social media influencer and luxury goods dealer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury. The agency said Michael was arrested at Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria for Paris, after investigations linked him to a network trafficking cocaine through Nigeria to destinations in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
The NDLEA said the operation followed the interception of 184.50kg of cocaine concealed in consignments handled through a courier company in Lagos. The seizure, according to the agency, is the largest single cocaine seizure recorded through a courier company in Nigeria, with the consignment estimated to have a street value of about N39bn. Investigators also arrested a logistics company employee allegedly connected to the shipment.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa said the investigation is continuing to uncover the cartel’s wider network and international connections. The allegations against KC Luxury and the other suspects remain subject to investigation and due legal process.
