Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote contacted him during the Osun State governorship election and asked him to delete posts he had made about the poll. Davido made the claim during an interview with News Central TV, where he discussed his involvement in monitoring the election and the pressure he faced over his social media updates.

Davido said he refused to delete the posts until the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the final result. He also alleged that more than N110bn in cash was brought into Osun State in an attempt to influence the election, although the claim has not been independently established. The singer said voters and residents resisted alleged attempts to manipulate the process.

The singer, who is a nephew of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke and had been involved in his re-election campaign, said he remained determined to document events surrounding the election despite pressure from influential figures. Adeleke was declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election after defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
