Tinubu Congratulates Adeleke, Says Osun Victory Reflects People’s Confidence
\n\nState Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the state’s governorship election, describing the result as an indication of the confidence placed in him by the people of Osun State.

The President’s message comes as political reactions continue to follow the election, with several prominent Nigerian politicians also congratulating Adeleke on his re-election.

Tinubu’s congratulatory message is particularly notable because Adeleke has publicly expressed support for the President’s 2027 re-election bid despite belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Adeleke recently explained that his support for Tinubu was not based on any agreement with the Federal Government, but was influenced partly by his belief in supporting the President as a fellow Yoruba man.

The Osun election has therefore generated considerable political discussion, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections. The outcome is being viewed as an important development in the political calculations of both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties.

Meanwhile, civil society organisation SERAP has called on INEC, EFCC and ICPC to investigate allegations of vote-buying, financial inducement, electoral violence and other violations linked to the election.

The political implications of the Osun result are expected to continue unfolding as parties begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
