A Nigerian national, identified as Izuchukwu Calistus Odionye, has been arrested in Vietnam after authorities allegedly discovered about 2kg of suspected crystal methamphetamine and two bricks of suspected heroin concealed in a consignment from Laos. The drugs were reportedly found during an inspection of the shipment.
Vietnamese authorities took Odionye into custody following the discovery, while investigations continue into the source of the drugs and their intended destination. The arrest adds to ongoing efforts by Vietnamese authorities to tackle international drug trafficking and the movement of narcotics through the country.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the Nigerian suspect have yet to be determined by a court. Authorities are expected to establish how the consignment was arranged and whether other individuals were involved in the alleged trafficking operation.
