Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intercepted a suspected explosives courier carrying 180 units of 20mm Super Power explosives in Zamfara State. The suspect was intercepted on Friday, August 14, during routine vehicle checks by troops of Sector 2 as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics in the region.
The military said the explosives were allegedly being transported for delivery to suspected terrorist elements. The suspect, vehicle and recovered explosives have been taken into custody for further investigation, while troops continue clearance operations against terrorist groups operating in the state.
The interception comes amid intensified military operations across Zamfara, where troops have also engaged terrorists and recovered weapons during recent offensives. The military said the operations are aimed at weakening terrorist networks, cutting off their supply routes and preventing them from acquiring materials needed for attacks.
