The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Federal University Kashere branch, has commenced an Active Non-Compliance action over what it described as an unlawful reduction in the salaries of its members. The union said the action followed directives from its National Executive Council after efforts to resolve the dispute with university management failed.
ASUU-FUK alleged that although the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement was implemented in January 2026, the salaries of its members were reduced in July. The union said the development violated the agreement and had caused significant hardship for academic staff. Members have therefore withdrawn from teaching, examination preparation and marking, research supervision, administrative duties and statutory university meetings.
The union described the action as regrettable but necessary, urging the Federal Government and university management to restore the affected salaries and resolve the dispute. It also appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to communicate its position to relevant university organs and avoid victimising members for participating in the industrial action.
