Several prominent Nigerians, including former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, gathered in Lagos on Thursday for the burial service of Anthony Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun. The service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Trinity Towers, Victoria Island. Anthony, a businessman and devoted Christian, died on August 5, 2026, at the age of 62, according to a statement issued by the Adeosun family.
Other dignitaries at the service included former Oyo State First Lady Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi; former African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina; Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his wife, Bamidele; Nigeria Revenue Service Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji; and former Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Arunma Oteh. The gathering brought together political leaders, business figures, friends and associates who came to honour the deceased and offer their condolences to Kemi Adeosun, their children and the wider family.
Anthony Adeosun was remembered by those close to him as a family-oriented Christian who made a positive impact on people around him and was committed to charitable causes. Following the church service, the family proceeded with a private burial. President Bola Tinubu had earlier extended his condolences to Kemi Adeosun, describing her late husband as a devout Christian whose dedication to supporting the less privileged touched many lives. Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
