FG Targets Fresh Investment and Jobs as Nigeria Diaspora Investment Conference Opens in Canada
\n\nThe Federal Government has intensified its efforts to attract foreign investment and create new economic opportunities as the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NIDEC) 2026 officially opens in Toronto, Canada.

The conference, which begins today, August 12, brings together Nigerian government officials, business leaders, investors and members of the Nigerian diaspora to explore opportunities for investment and economic partnerships.

The Federal Government said the initiative is designed to leverage the strength of Nigerians living abroad and encourage them to invest in the country. Officials are expected to showcase opportunities across key sectors of the economy while engaging potential investors on ways to establish or expand businesses in Nigeria.

The government is particularly focused on attracting fresh foreign direct investment, creating jobs and increasing foreign exchange inflows into the country. The conference is also expected to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and the Nigerian diaspora in Canada and other parts of the world.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, said there would be no room for what he described as “jamboree” under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the conference is expected to produce concrete economic outcomes.

The development forms part of the Tinubu administration’s broader push to position Nigeria as a competitive destination for international capital, while encouraging Nigerians abroad to play a greater role in the country’s economic development.
