The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Faith Alayande, a student who died after falling from the rooftop of the institution’s Lagos Campus hostel. Alayande, who was a student of the Nigerian Law School’s Enugu Campus, had been temporarily accommodated at the Lagos Campus while participating in an externship programme. According to a statement issued by the school’s Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Aderonke O. Osho, the incident occurred at about 4am on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the institution’s Lagos Campus.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the Lagos State Police Command. Preliminary police findings indicated that Alayande may have fallen from the rooftop of the four-storey hostel building, while investigators visited the scene, documented evidence and recovered two handwritten notes reportedly addressed to her stepfather and roommate. The Law School confirmed the death following the incident but did not provide a definitive explanation for what led to the fall, leaving investigators to establish the events surrounding the student’s final moments.
