The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully completed the electronic upload of all its candidates for the 2027 general elections, beating the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, announced the development on Sunday, saying the ruling party had successfully submitted the required details of its candidates through the INEC portal. The completion covers candidates participating in the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
Yilwatda said the exercise was completed after the party resolved challenges surrounding the submission process and worked to ensure that all necessary candidate information was properly uploaded. The APC’s completion comes as political parties face increased pressure to meet INEC’s electoral timetable ahead of the 2027 polls. The commission’s schedule provides separate timelines for presidential/National Assembly and governorship/State Assembly candidates, with the electronic nomination process for governorship and State Assembly candidates running through August 8.
The APC leadership described the successful submission as evidence of the party’s preparedness for the 2027 elections and its commitment to complying with electoral regulations. The party is expected to continue with other pre-election activities, including possible substitutions and corrections where permitted under the electoral timetable. INEC is scheduled to publish the particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates on August 15, while the final list for those elections is expected on September 12, giving voters and other stakeholders an opportunity to scrutinise the candidates before the elections.
