The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a vehicle reported stolen in Ibadan after an intelligence-led operation that stretched across state lines and ended with the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect in Gombe State. According to the police, the vehicle was reported missing on July 29, prompting investigators to launch a detailed search using credible intelligence. The operation eventually led officers to Gombe, where the suspect, identified as Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu, was apprehended on August 3 while allegedly in possession of the stolen vehicle.

Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle in Ibadan before driving it to Gombe with the intention of selling it to an unsuspecting buyer. The command noted that the recovery was made possible through coordinated efforts by detectives who carefully tracked the movement of the vehicle. The recovered car has since been secured as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigators work to determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged crime.

The police described the arrest as another success for intelligence-driven policing and reaffirmed their commitment to tackling vehicle theft and other organised crimes across the country. The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant when purchasing used vehicles by verifying ownership documents and reporting suspicious transactions to security agencies. Authorities added that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the probe.
