The Nigerian Army has declared several senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) wanted following a major intelligence breakthrough during recent counter-terrorism operations in the Lake Chad region of Borno State. The military identified Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, the group’s governor (Wali), his deputy and Amirul Jaish Muhammad Jidda, also known as “The One-Handed Man,” and other top commanders as key targets in its ongoing offensive against the terrorist group.
The Army announced a substantial financial reward for anyone who provides credible and actionable intelligence leading to the arrest of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, describing him as the most wanted ISWAP leader operating within the Lake Chad Basin. Military authorities said the identities of informants would be kept strictly confidential and urged members of the public not to confront the suspects but to report useful information through designated security channels.
According to the Army, the decision follows the recovery and analysis of technical devices seized during recent operations against ISWAP fighters, which helped identify the group’s senior leadership structure. The military said the latest move forms part of its broader strategy to dismantle the insurgents’ command network and sustain pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
