The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it will begin conducting recruitment exercises every year, ending the long gaps that previously existed between hiring cycles. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi said the 2026 recruitment exercise will open later this year and is expected to be completed within the same calendar year, from the advertisement stage to the release of the final list of successful candidates.

According to Adeniyi, the decision follows the successful development of a more efficient recruitment framework during the 2024/2025 exercise. He explained that the Service now has the screening, verification and processing systems needed to make future recruitment exercises faster, more transparent and more predictable for applicants.

The announcement came as Customs released the final list of 3,852 successful candidates from the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, which attracted more than 573,000 applications. Adeniyi encouraged unsuccessful applicants not to lose hope, assuring them that another opportunity will become available later this year under the new annual recruitment system.
