A Nigerian Army officer and a police officer have been killed after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA repelled a terrorist attack on a Forward Operating Base in Kasuwan Daji, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attackers were forced to retreat following heavy resistance from security forces, while troops rescued nine civilians who had been abducted from nearby communities.

According to the Army, reinforcements pursued the fleeing terrorists after the initial gun battle, leading to the successful rescue of the victims. Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and were airlifted for advanced medical treatment, with military authorities confirming they are in stable condition. Troops have since secured the area and are continuing clearance operations to assess the full extent of the terrorists’ losses.

The Army dismissed online reports claiming that six security personnel were killed, clarifying that only one soldier and one police officer lost their lives in the encounter. It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North-West until lasting peace and security are restored.
