African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has criticised the National Assembly’s handling of its investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal, arguing that the probe cannot be considered credible without questioning President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the alleged Director-General of the council, Adeniyi Adeyemi. He described any attempt to conclude the investigation without hearing from both men as a violation of the principles of natural justice.
Okonkwo also rejected reports that police could not produce Adeyemi before lawmakers because he is being held under a court remand order. According to him, such an order does not prevent the legislature from carrying out its constitutional oversight responsibilities, while questioning why Gbajabiamila, who is not in detention, was not invited to testify.
The former presidential spokesperson further accused the National Assembly of undermining public confidence in its investigation, urging Nigerians to demand greater accountability from public institutions. He maintained that any findings reached without giving all key individuals an opportunity to respond would lack credibility and called on voters to hold leaders accountable in the 2027 elections.
