Nigerian Army troops have rescued a senior military officer, Lt. Col. Ofor Amobi, and a civilian, Ikechukwu Onwuanra, after a 10-day joint search-and-rescue operation in Enugu State. The operation was carried out by troops of the 82 Division in collaboration with other security agencies following their abduction by suspected kidnappers.
According to a military operational report, the victims were found alive after sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations. The kidnappers reportedly abandoned the two victims and fled into the surrounding forest as security forces intensified pressure on them. Troops also recovered the victims’ vehicle during the operation, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Military authorities described the rescue as a testament to the effectiveness of joint security operations and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and combating criminal activities across the country.
